Circus Hallam's President, Charlie was lucky enough to be offered a place and attended this master class with Jo Moss at the Generating Company's Creation Centre in the south of France
Lestival - Leicester Circus Festival
Saturday 4th May 2013
£8 Entrance Fee
Lestival returned for another year. The shows lineup included Circus Hallam's President; Charlie performing a hula hoop act, along with some awesome performers from around the UK. The convention had practice spaces and workshops, a café, a choice of traders, wacky games, tunes, and guaranteed 110% sunshine and unicorns! (Unicorns may not be included). British Juggling Convention 2013 - York
Tuesday 9th to Sunday 14th April 2013

Some of our member attended this years BJC, which was the 26th annual British Juggling Convention. Jugglers and other circus skill enthusiasts gathering from all over Britain and even further afield in Pickering, North Yorkshire to attend a six-day long event, packed with workshops and shows. Sheffield Spin Sessions - Part 1
One of the international artists we recently invited to Sheffield, was the very lovely Mat Manamat. Mat is a circus artist originally from France, however he has been living in New Zealand, and he will be returning there at the end of the summer. Mat is skilled in a number of circus disciplines, but we invited him to Sheffield because he’s got one of those awesome giant hoops (also known as a Cyr Wheel), and he’s pretty good at it! So after the convention and master classes, we had a bit of time to hang out and spin in Sheffield. We filmed some of our spinning sessions around the city, and I put together this video from some of the footage… Enjoy!
Sheffield Circus Gathering 2013

Practice Space and Circus Skills Workshops throughout the day 9am - 5pm

Ballring Circus Convention - Birmingham

Three of our members (Sasha, James & Charlie) performed in the show at this years Ballring Circus Convention in Birmingham. This event is organised by student members of the University of Birmingham's Purple Mermaid Circus Society, and is held at their university Guild of Students building. Chocfest - York Juggling Convention

Some of us travelled to York for this years Chocfest. York's one and only chocolate-filled juggling convention, the convention has a large juggling hall to practice and share circus skills, an evening show, the Chocfest Chocolate Cake Challenge competition, and ridiculous amounts of cake! Cyr Wheel Training with Nick Steward

We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to host Nick Steward whilst he was visiting the UK. Nick is a professional circus artist from New Zealand, he is incredibly skilled in a number of different disciplines including Cyr Wheel. So when we heard he was in the UK, we had to invite him to Sheffield. We were lucky enough to be able to use the HUBS and arranged a Cyr Wheel Workshop with him at quite short notice!

Circus Hallam Spin Jam (+ Special Guest International Teacher - Michael Armstrong)

We were delighted to invite Michael Armstrong back here to Sheffield, before he returned home to New Zealand. Michael performed and taught Cyr Wheel at the European Hula Hoop (& Sheffield Circus Skills Convention) back in September, but we convinced him to come back to Sheffield and teach some more Cyr Wheel to members of Circus Hallam and Flying Teapots (Sheffield University Juggling Society). We booked the HUBS for the afternoon so members could come along and have a go at Cyr Wheel or just use the space to play/practice with other circus toys.

Circus Hallam hosts the European Hula Hoop (& Sheffield Circus Skills) Convention 2012
7th - 9th September 2012
We recently hosted the European Hula Hoop (& Sheffield Circus Skills) Convention 2012, right here at Sheffield Hallam University. We held the event over 3 days, there were practice spaces to juggle, hoop, spin and play with circus toys, we had a variety of workshops and master classes from top international artists, and a spectacular Gala Show followed by a party!
